For regular renters, payment is due at the start of the month. Drop-in rent is due prior to the slot start and glass usage will need to be paid prior to, or upon work pick-up.

Glass usage

Each standard slot includes 18 pounds of glass. Here’s how we calculate glass usage:

  • We include your scrap and piece weight.

  • If using a material amount of colour, weigh it before and after your slot and ensure it’s noted in the rental binder. The amount used will be deducted from your overall glass weight. For more detail, visit our FAQs.

Glass overage rates

The tiered fees reflect studio and inventory management costs associated with using larger amounts of glass.

  • Use over 19 to 36 pounds of glass on a four-hour slot and the overage charge is $4.80 per pound (+tax).

  • With 2 weeks prior notice:  Use over 36 pounds of glass on a single four-hour slot or over 54 pounds of glass per day, the charge is $6.50 per pound (+tax).

  • Without 2 weeks prior notice from you: Use over 36 pounds of glass on a single four-hour slot or over 54 pounds of glass per day, the overage charge is $8.55 (+tax)  per pound.

  • Access to studio punties. All renter-accessible punties are banded with red tape.

Special projects

It’s exciting when artists have a large or special project! The reality is there are cost ramifications for you and us and scheduling ramifications for the community. If you know or guesstimate, you’re going to go over 18 pounds of glass per slot, ensure you know the OVERAGE RATES and let us know two weeks in advance. Detail your plan in writing, including the type and number of pieces you’ll be making, anticipated weight, whether you’ll be pulling cane, need additional annealing time, need the hot box, or have special unloading instructions. We’ll do our best to accommodate you. You will be responsible for all additional costs assessed.
